The Insitute cyclos-HTP (CHI) has developed various lab methods that serve to verify the sortability of packaging, as well as to prove the unrestricted compatibility of packaging components and materials in the mechanical recycling of packaging. With regard to the compatibility of materials, the current common applications of recyclates are also tested, which includes the use of PCR plastics in injection moulding or films. For all test methods, the relevant large-scale sorting or recycling process, as well as the common applications of PCR recyclates, serves as a reference and is replicated on a laboratory scale as the current state of the art.
These lab methods are based on the CHI standard and are carried out as a relevant part of our investigations for the testing and certification of packaging and materials.
